How to create a free QR code digital menu
A QR code digital menu lets diners read your menu on their phone, with no reprinting every time a price or a dish changes. Done well, it also lets them order from the table. This guide shows you how to set it up in an afternoon.
What you need before you start
- Your current menu: each dish's name, a short description and its price.
- Photos of your best sellers. A daylight photo taken with a phone is enough.
- Your categories in the order you want them shown (starters, mains, drinks…).
Step 1: organise the menu by category
A diner at the table decides in seconds. Put your best sellers first and keep names clear: a plain dish name beats a clever one with no description.
Write one line per dish saying what is in it. It helps people who do not know your food and cuts the questions your staff answer.
Step 2: put the menu on a page of your own
The QR code is only a link. What matters is the page it opens: it must load fast on mobile data and show your brand, not a middleman's.
With PedidoIQ your restaurant gets its own address (yourrestaurant.pedidoiq.app) with your logo and colours. You add dishes from the dashboard, or we help you load the menu.
Step 3: generate the QR codes and put them on the tables
Print one QR code per table. When each code knows its table, the order reaches the kitchen with the table number and nobody has to ask.
Place it where diners see it when they sit down: a table stand or a sticker works better than a sign on the wall.
Step 4: go from reading the menu to taking orders
A menu people can only read saves printing. A menu that takes orders saves time: the diner picks, confirms, and the order appears on the kitchen screen without passing through a notepad.
With PedidoIQ there is no commission on the order: what you sell is yours.
Common mistakes
- A PDF of the menu: it is tiny on a phone and people have to zoom to read it.
- Out-of-date prices: when a price changes in the kitchen, change it on the menu the same day.
- A QR code that opens a social network: the diner gets distracted and cannot order.
